Thailand is the most well-known country for its floating markets, especially with iconic spots like the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market near Bangkok. However, other countries also have their versions of floating markets.
For instance, Vietnam has the bustling Cai Rang Floating Market in the Mekong Delta, where vendors sell everything from fresh fruits to hot meals right from their boats. Indonesia, particularly in Banjarmasin, also has floating markets where locals trade goods on the water. India also has its version of floating markets, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir—Dal Lake in Srinagar. Here, vendors sell fresh produce, flowers, and handicrafts from their shikaras (traditional wooden boats). This market operates early in the morning and offers a picturesque view of life on the water, surrounded by the stunning Himalayan landscape.
