A party earns recognition as a national party only upon meeting one of the following three conditions:
1. Securing two percent of Lok Sabha seats from at least three distinct states.
2. In a general election to the Lok Sabha or Legislative Assembly, obtaining six percent of votes in four or more states, and additionally winning four Lok Sabha seats.
3. Attaining recognition as a state party in four states.
