The Indian Penal Code, amended in 2013 following the Nirbhaya case, defines and prescribes stringent punishments for offenses like rape, sexual assault, and molestation. The Code of Criminal Procedure and the Indian Evidence Act also contain provisions to ensure fair and speedy trials in cases of sexual violence against women.
