The term “smartphone” was first coined in 1997 to describe mobile phones with advanced computing capabilities and internet connectivity.
In the year of 1993, IBM designed the ‘Smartphone’ and BellSouth Telecommunication Operating Company started to sold it. May be the concept of the ‘Smartphone’ thought from the concept of the computer integrated handheld mobile telephone.
