Detail: The outer ear, also known as the auricle or pinna, is the visible part of the ear that protrudes from the side of the head. Its main function is to collect sound waves and direct them into the ear canal, where they are transmitted to the middle ear for further processing. The shape and structure of the pinna help in localizing the source of sounds and enhancing sound reception.
