The Brahmaputra River is about 2,900 kilometers (1,800 miles) long in total. Out of this, it flows for approximately 916 kilometers (570 miles) through India. It starts from the Angsi Glacier in Tibet, where it’s known as the Yarlung Tsangpo, then enters India through Arunachal Pradesh as the Siang or Dihang River, and continues its journey through Assam as the Brahmaputra. The river eventually flows into Bangladesh, where it merges with the Ganges before emptying into the Bay of Bengal. The Brahmaputra is vital to the region’s agriculture, transportation, and culture.
