The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the network of physical objects–devices, vehicles, buildings, and other items–embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies to connect and exchange data with other devices and systems over the internet. In smart homes, IoT is used for automated control of lighting, heating, security systems, appliances, and more. For example, smart thermostats can learn your schedule and adjust temperatures automatically, while smart security cameras can be monitored and controlled remotely.
