Haptophobia is an intense and irrational fear of being touched. This fear can lead to severe anxiety and avoidance of situations where physical contact might occur. People with haptophobia may experience extreme distress at the thought or act of being touched, which can significantly impact their daily life, personal relationships, and social interactions. Like other phobias, haptophobia can be treated with therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure therapy, and sometimes medication to help manage the symptoms.
