– The National Constituent Assembly announced, “The National Assembly abolishes the feudal system entirely” on the night of August 4, 1789.
– The August Decrees were a set of 19 articles passed by the National Constituent Assembly that abolished the seigneurial rights of the Second Estate, or the nobility, and the tithes gathered by the First Estate, or the Catholic clergy.
