A ‘subnet’ is a generic term for a section of an extensive network, usually separated by a bridge or a router. It also works for the network’s broadcast domains, manages traffic flow, and helps improve network performance. Uses of the subnet in networking include:
Relieving network congestion
Reallocating IP addresses
Improving network security
