A deadlock is a situation in operating systems where a set of processes are unable to proceed because each process is waiting for a resource held by another process in the set. Deadlock can be prevented using strategies such as resource allocation ordering, requiring processes to request all needed resources at once, or using algorithms like the Banker’s algorithm to ensure safe resource allocation.
