The 301 redirect tells the user and search engine bots that the original web page has permanently moved to another location. 302, on the other hand, only serves as a temporary redirect and does not pass on the link juice to the new location.
A 301 redirect is a permanent redirect that sends both users and search engines from one URL to another. It signals that the original URL has been permanently moved to a new location, transferring the SEO value from the old URL to the new one.
A 302 redirect, on the other hand, is a temporary redirect. It tells search engines that the original URL has been temporarily moved, meaning the SEO value is not transferred permanently, and the original URL should still be indexed.
Key Differences:
Purpose:
301: Permanent change.
302: Temporary change.
SEO Impact:
301: Transfers SEO value to the new URL.
302: Does not transfer SEO value; search engines continue to prioritize the original URL.
