Those “knots” are actually tight bands of muscle fibers called myofascial trigger points. They form when muscles are overused, injured, or stressed, leading to a build-up of lactic acid and other byproducts that irritate the muscle tissue. Massaging these areas helps to release the tension and improve blood flow, easing the discomfort.
