The Vedas are considered revealed texts in Hinduism because they are believed to be the divine word heard by ancient sages after intense meditation. The word “Veda” is derived from the Sanskrit word śruti, which means “what is heard”. The Vedas are also considered apauruṣeyā, which means “not of a man, superhuman” and “impersonal, authorless”.
