Rose plants do not produce fruits due to the following reasons:
No fertilization takes place in a rose flower due to the absence of viable pollen.
The eggs produced are non-functional.
They are self-incompatible.
The ovule is defective and non-functional.
Since rose plants reproduce vegetatively, they might be sterile.
