Sports and culture are both very integral parts of human life that shape and reflect the society around the world in terms of values and identities. In most instances, sports often work like a language and can bridge geographical and cultural gaps by providing people with a common experience to be shared and rejoiced in. On the other hand, styles of playing, watching, or celebrating sports are determined by cultural practices and beliefs, thus creating local variations and traditions. In the dynamic play of sports and culture, what comes out is human expression and community. In interpreting how sports and culture intersect, we learn more about the higher social fabric and ways through which people find meaning and connection with athletic pursuits.
