Kombucha is a fermented tea beverage made using a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY). Here’s a basic overview of how it’s made:

Brew the Tea: Start by brewing black or green tea and adding sugar. The sugar acts as food for the SCOBY during fermentation.

Add the SCOBY: Once the tea has cooled to room temperature, add the SCOBY and some starter tea (from a previous batch or store-bought kombucha).

Ferment: Cover the mixture with a cloth and let it ferment at room temperature for about 7 to 14 days. During this time, the SCOBY ferments the sugar into acids, gases, and alcohol.

Taste and Bottle: After fermentation, taste the kombucha. If it’s to your liking, remove the SCOBY and bottle the kombucha. You can add flavors like fruit or herbs at this stage if desired.

Second Fermentation (optional): For added carbonation and flavor, you can let the bottled kombucha ferment for a few more days before refrigerating.

    Health Benefits:

Probiotics: Kombucha is rich in probiotics, which are beneficial bacteria that support gut health and digestion.

Antioxidants: The tea used in kombucha provides antioxidants, which help combat oxidative stress and inflammation.

Detoxification: Kombucha contains compounds like glucuronic acid that can aid in detoxifying the body.

Immune Support: The vitamins and probiotics in kombucha may help boost the immune system.

Energy and Mental Clarity: Some people find kombucha helps with energy levels and mental clarity, potentially due to its B vitamins and other nutrients.
