The circulatory system, also known as the cardiovascular system, is responsible for transporting oxygen, nutrients, hormones, and waste products throughout the body. It consists of the heart, blood vessels (arteries, veins, and capillaries), and blood. The heart pumps oxygen-rich blood from the lungs to the body’s tissues via arteries, and oxygen-poor blood returns to the heart via veins to be reoxygenated in the lungs.
