An authentic Satvik mala has:
Deep black or dark brown natural hue
Smooth, perfectly rounded beads
A rich, dense feel only real ebony wood has
Long-lasting shine and durability
Real Karungli isn’t jet black. It’s dark brown to black with uneven color and visible grain. If every bead looks identical, it’s probably dyed wood.
It should feel like real wood—dense, slightly heavy. Many fake ones feel oddly light or plastic-smooth.
Rub a bead between your fingers. Real wood often gives a faint woody smell. Chemical smell or no smell at all isn’t a good sign.
An easy check is water. If black or brown color leaks out, it’s dyed. Genuine Karungli doesn’t bleed.
Ignore sellers pushing “satvik energy” or “activated power.” There’s no certification for that. If it’s cheap and loaded with mystical marketing, assume it’s fake.
