The Arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus) has several adaptations for cold weather, including a thick, insulating fur that changes color with the seasons. In winter, its fur is white to blend in with the snow, and in summer, it turns brown or grey to match the tundra. The fox also has a low surface-area-to-volume ratio, reducing heat loss, and it can curl up to conserve body heat.
