Cell theory is not applicable to viruses. While viruses share some characteristics with living organisms, they lack the structures and functions necessary to be considered cells. Therefore, they do not adhere to the principles of cell theory, which state that all living organisms are composed of cells, cells are the basic units of structure and function in living organisms, and all cells come from pre-existing cells.
