    hydrogen sulphide
The correct answer is hydrogen sulphide. Brass gets discolored in the air due to the presence of hydrogen sulphide. It is due to the presence of the mixture of hydrogen and sulphide that makes Brass discolored.

Brass gets discoloured in air mainly because of hydrogen sulphide (H₂S). This gas reacts with the copper content in brass, forming a dark tarnish layer on the surface. Even very small amounts of H₂S in the atmosphere can cause this effect over time. To keep your brass utensils shining and well-maintained, choosing high-quality pieces like those from http://www.brassglobe.com can make care easier and ensure long-lasting beauty.
