Bagram became the capital of the Kushan Empire in the 1st century AD and from here they conquered Peshawar(modern-day Pakistan).
The Kushan Empire was formed by the Yuezhi, in the Bactrian territories in the early 1st century. It’s reign covered modern-day parts of Pakistan, Afghanistan and India.
Heraios was the founder of the dynasty.
Kanishka is considered as the greatest of all emperors of the dynasty. He played an important role in the establishment of Buddhism in the Indian subcontinent and its spread to Central Asia and China.
Peshawar, Taxila and Mathura were also the capitals of the dynasty.
It began declining in the 3rd Century AD when it was defeated by the Sasanians.
It was finally defeated by the Gupta dynasty in the 4th Century AD.
