    The northern plains are formed by the alluvial deposits of the three major river systems of the Indus, the Ganga and the Brahmaputra along with their tributaries. This plain is completely formed of alluvial soil. The plains are very fertile and are best suited for agriculture.

    Central Highlands is a tableland of uneven surface, from 1500 to 2500 ft above the sea. It has fertile lands which help us to grow a variety of crops. The Satpura stretch which is the part of Central Highlands includes Rajpipla Hills, Nimar Plateau, the Pachmarhi Hills and the Mahadeo Hills.
