The CI engine, also known as the Compression Ignition engine, stands out for its distinctive method of achieving combustion. Unlike the Spark Ignition engine, the CI engine injects fuel directly into highly compressed, hot air within the combustion chamber.

You may see your car's engine listed as a three- or four-figure number on your V5C, for example; 2,298cc. This is the exact cubic centimetres of capacity — though for simplicity's sake these are rounded up to litres (each litre contains 1,000 cubic centimetres). We can use the formula. V = 3.14 × (B ÷ 2)2 × S. V = Swept Volume of Piston. B = Bore of the Cylinder. S = Stroke of the. Engine. Then to find the total engine capacity. Engine Capacity = V × N.

What is the CC in cars?

Added an answer on August 13, 2024 at 1:48 am

The size – or cubic capacity – of a car's engine is measured in cubic centimetres (cc). It refers to the amount of air and fuel that can be pushed through the cylinders in the engine. In most cases, the general rule of thumb is that the bigger the capacity, the more powerful it tends to be.
