When sunlight reaches the earth atmosphere, it reacts with the gases and particles in the air and gets scattered. Blue has a shorter wavelength, which means it travels as shorter and smaller waves. Thus, the blue colour in the sunlight gets scattered easily filling the sky with blue colour.
