Hebrew is a great example. It was primarily used for religious and scholarly purposes for centuries but was revived as a spoken language in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Thanks to efforts by people like Eliezer Ben-Yehuda and the support of the Jewish community, Hebrew is now a vibrant, modern language spoken by millions of people in Israel.
