The Dutch founded their first factory in Masulipatnam (Present day Andhra Pradesh) in the year 1605. Silk, cotton, indigo, rice, opium were the main trading commodities of the Dutch. They never wanted to build empire in India. The Spice island of Indonesia and peeper were their main attraction.
