gliclazide is a better option in diabetes when compared to glimepiride. findings. study. was found to be 52.5% and 41.3% respectively.
Both glimepiride and gliclazide are from the same diabetes medicine group (sulfonylureas). They both help the pancreas release more insulin to control blood sugar. In real practice, gliclazide is often preferred because it usually has lower risk of hypoglycemia (sudden low sugar) compared to glimepiride.
That said, both work well. Doctors choose based on the patient’s age, sugar levels, and other health issues. So neither is “universally better.” It really depends on the individual case and doctor’s prescription.
