Edge computing is a distributed computing paradigm that brings computation and data storage closer to the location where it is needed, such as IoT devices, sensors, and edge servers, to reduce latency, conserve bandwidth, and enable real-time processing and analysis of data at the edge of the network. It complements cloud computing by extending cloud services and capabilities to the edge of the network, enabling hybrid cloud and edge computing architectures for supporting latency-sensitive and bandwidth-intensive applications, such as autonomous vehicles, smart cities, and industrial IoT.
