An asteroid is a small rocky body that orbits the Sun, primarily found in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, while a meteoroid is significantly smaller than an asteroid and is typically a fragment of a comet or asteroid that is in space. When a meteoroid enters Earth’s atmosphere and produces a bright trail, it becomes a meteor.
