it is a great memory management utility in any OS. You can use the virtual memory system as secondary memory. This memory is used by both software and hardware in Linux so that your system can cope with the lack of physical memory. Moreover, virtual memory is also used to compensate for the RAM usage by transferring the data temporarily from RAM to disk storage.
